NEIL LAWSON

Non-Executive Director

Neil is a specialist thermal engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineer and 30 years’ experience in the field. He has worked globally based in Europe, North America, Africa and the Far East involved in domestic, commercial, process, petrochemical and utility scale applications for thermal energy.

Neil spent the early 90’s developing and delivering efficient energy into Dutch greenhouse. Those solutions for emissions reduction, maximum efficiency for heat and power using mixed energy sources are still in use some 30 years later across Europe and it is exciting to be at the forefront of a new revolution in greenhouse energy.

Since 2000 Neil has specialised in multi technology energy centres which include ground source heat pump (GSHP), ASHP, CHP, fossil fuel boiler, chillers, PV, solar thermal and other renewables. He has been at the forefront of simultaneous heating and cooling coupled to thermal storage, developing efficient solutions for offices, commercial, retail, schools, hospitals, universities, rural estates, agriculture, exemplar green buildings, low carbon hotels and mixed use developments.

Neil has been a co-founder of three start-ups and held Director roles in two Venture Capital backed businesses operating within the renewables sector. 2017 saw the culmination of 5 years voluntary work designing, developing and building the largest hydro on the Thames, crowd funded and community owned in the village of Sandford-on-Thames, Oxford.

Neil sat on the European CEN committee for normalisation of gas air ratio controls, was a founding member of the Clean Air Act for Southern Africa, has assisted Underwriters Laboratories in the US with emerging technologies and regularly speaks as an expert at CIBSE, Institute of Physics and industry related conferences.

Outside work his main interests are keeping two teenage sons stimulated and exercised, the progression of the human powered vehicle, coaching and competing with UK para-rowing and when time allows independent overland travel.
